Moove, Uber's largest vehicle supply partner in EMEA, has secured $8 million in funding from Absa Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB). With a total investment of $28 million from Absa, Moove plans to expand its vehicle fleet in Ghana, boosting its operations in the country.
Medsaf, a Nigerian health-tech startup, has unfortunately laid off its full-time employees due to funding gaps and macroeconomic challenges. The company's COO informed employees of this decision on Slack, affecting approximately 30 employees.
Fiducia, a technology-enabled platform focusing on supply chain financing for small businesses in Africa, has partnered with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to enhance liquidity through factoring. OPay, a Chinese-owned fintech company in Nigeria, has introduced a fee structure change for transfers to non-OPay accounts. Previously free, transfers to other banks now incur a ₦10 fee for Nigerian users.
Standard Chartered Kenya, in collaboration with iBizAfrica - Strathmore University, has selected 15 women-led startups for the Women in Tech Programme. These startups will undergo a 12-week business incubation training to enhance their skills. At the program's end, seven businesses will receive $10,000 each in funding.
